Cube Cart : One of The Reasons Why I’m Closing My Store Temporarily

It’s indeed not an open source but I need to add some codes inside to meet my need…ughhhh…

Just added a few mail codes inside so when the order comes, I will know it. Before that, I didn’t know if the customer submit their order. I only knew it when they paid it a.k.a when the transaction is like 100% complete. I remember my sister’s friend submit an order and I didn’t knew it. She’s a local buyer and would like to purchase by bank transfer. It was so sad that I just tested it yesterday that even after submitting order using “money order” option, there was no ordering email come to my mailbox. I’m not sure about updating or upgrading…I’m using the Fantastico feature. What i’m disappointed at is:

1. That’s it : no order notification email.
2. I think after people ordering, although not paying it, yet, the inventory must decrease automatically. Some people need more time to pay. Me as a buyer experience that, too. When the customer fails to pay, we can cancel the transaction and release the item back!. It’s easier to do that and more professional! With this Cube Cart I’m using, if the customer doesn’ pay it right away after ordering, there’s a chance that other customer will buy it because the inventory doesn’t decrease! Imagine if the item is One Of A Kind stuff! It’s good in money business terms that Who Pay First Get It First, but in “relationship” and “service” terms, that motto can’t be applied. I want to build relationship and give the best service I can to my customer, not only to get their money.

Regarding to #2 issue, I feel it’s so hard when making the policy. Too much wuzzz wizzz, so annoying. It’s like I’m making people insecure about their order in terms that they may loose it if they don’t pay it right away…

It’s so funny that even setting up store with PayPal button or cart is even better. I’ve tried this one long time ago and now considering to do that again! Even I’m thinking to do it manual, too! Like using simple form like contact form and then sending invoice. It’s better, though, rather than using system that looks professional but has a lot of issues. Customer will understand the policy better. What so funnier is, when I was trying to write store policy on both Cube Cart and that “manual” store, it was so much easier to write store policy on “manual” store. It’s longer but very reasonable because I said first: It’s ran manually. Then I explain the “play rule” easily. Instead of making this notification: Submitting an order doesn’t mean inventory will decrease. It means the item is still available to purchase until the order is paid. Whaaa?…If I’m a customer, I will feel being “rushed” and “insecure”.

I’m also looking at Zen Cart, but it worse. It’s too complicated for new user. I mean, I can’t afford webstore developer. I do it myself. This cart is so so so difficult!. Too many setting and confusing. Even when setting up the payment. Can’t they make it more simple? Just to set up a store, it takes me forever…I’ll be old in Zen Cart time (^o^)

I’m also considering to use WordPress again but I don’t know. I have set it up for my local language store. I don’t want to set up the same look for english store but haven’t had other template in mind, yet. I don’t want to combine that, too for some reasons (-.^)…

I see some system is like this as well (except Word Press. I checked out many times, after submitting order, the inventory would decrease and the order notification email will be sent to the seller) but Cube Cart…may be it’s the way it’s made…the logic step…It makes impression that after submitting an order, customer can wait for payment. Or may be it’s just me (^O^).  So, I always get impression that when clicking the payment button there is 2 “ways” of direction:
a. Order (is made and notification is sent to seller).
b. Payment (will be done a.s.a.p or next day…hey, internet connection sometimes is bad all of sudden. I experienced this, too. Thank goodness, I shopped from a “mall” that has good system…).

There’s also another way how to “trick” this Cube Cart. I must find the “transaction” file and add some words or notification there that will help notifying the customer. It will be better rather than writing confusing store policy.

I guess, although inventory is not decrease, at least, notification is sent when an order is made…(~.~)’…

PS: just checked out my Cube Cart…yes…it’s a little bit “deceiving” in order steps…I will edit it right away…I hope I can edit the button to…
