Mass Production Vs Handmade: They are DIFFERENT!
What I don’t get it until now:
if it’s a mass production, certain short cut sewing technique which makes the shape looks less good and messy is ok. People don’t check it too much.
BUT
If it’s a handmade, people seems like to check it more thoroughly like we are worse than those mass production quality.
There’s a ‘name’ for a good handmade-’maker’ or people…that is CRAFTER. Crafter is different. They keep improving their skill and knowledge. They never stop to improve and learn. Their handmade is not just a so so handmade as they really-really have passion in what they do. Not like: ‘i love sewing’ but they only sew the same pouch with different fabrics for about hundreds, ‘i love to crochet’ but they only ‘tweak’ other people’s patterns and never tried to search their own style or pattern. It’s either business or time-killing if the characteristics are those last ones I just mentioned above…
Crafter ‘doesn’t do’ business or time-killing. They really do what they love. That’s why perhaps, we may see poor drawing artists, greatest classic musicians, poor crafters but as the time goes by, their masterpiece are still there, in everyone’s memory. Perhaps, it will need hundreds of years after they were passed away then they got high appreciation from the world (and higher even the highest) and perhaps, we can appreciate their work because it’s because nothing in present time like what they did in the past.
People look high on stuff like that but when they see current, present art or handmade, either they would say,”it’s a handmade, should be cheaper” or “handmade? let me take a look *and they inspect all over the stuff like they are the expert and like it’s worse than mass production quality* ”
About time, people must ‘tag’ and understand about crafter and make it differ from time-killer crafter and business-crafter (mass production or not creative crafter (sorry…rude? well, am i saying anything wrong?…(^.<)…)).
I’m not an enemy to mass production or such a thing. I purchased ones sometimes BUT I just DON’T LIKE IT WHEN PEOPLE CAN’T APPRECIATE A TRUE REAL QUALITY HANDMADE/ART/CRAFTS, BORN FROM THE HANDS OF A TRUE TRUE TRUE CRAFTER.
I can purchase mass production yet I can highly appreciate the TRUE Crafter’s work at the same time!
I love crafts and enjoy them since i was a kid and still loving it and will love it. I appreciate the skill, patience, ‘genuinity’ AND creativity. Crafters look for money of course but aside from that, they are just doing what they love and sell their ‘love’ to other people.
Personally, I don’t like it when I make something, people buy it but they don’t look really appreciate my stuff. Put it somewhere unmaintained like a piece of scrap. I just…Even with a lot of people gave it a compliment, still ‘they’ did that to my handmade???? Mm, i think they even treat their mass-production or even fake stuff better…(^.^)””’ Yes, I still get the money, but i wish people would appreciate my ‘love’ and ‘passion’ more because me, my work, my passion I AM are more valuable than any money can buy. I give love, I wish people can reply it with love as well (^.<)…
oh, well…crap…perhaps, i just take the money and swallow the bitter pill (^o^)”’…at least the money, i can use it for daily use as well using it for my craft development (^o^)””’…
still…i dream that people will appreciate my work one day
